I don't know of anyone who believes that they are living in the dark ages. You may hear someone say that they are "old school," but that's usually as far as it goes. And that's definitely not the same thing. It just feels like your perspective is the way things are. We tend to continue to repeat our thoughts and beliefs until we have an experience that creates a shift.
Take a moment and think about one belief that has changed in your life. If you are struggling with this, just think about how you saw the world as a child, and how you see it now. I bet that you have had more than one "Aha" moment in your life. The light bulb goes on, and you didn't even know that you were living in the dark. This is happening with so many people and their spiritual beliefs and connection at this time. Some call this a time of enlightenment, or a new era of spiritual awakening. Increasingly people are feeling their personal connection to Spirit /the Universe / Higher Power, and to each other in a new and powerful way.
As wonderful as this is, people have often told me that this new feeling of connection has actually left them feeling isolated. Usually this is when the person is surrounded by family, friends and coworkers who are still living in the dark ages with their beliefs. And they are not ready or interested in opening the door to something new. When this happens, it is possible to maintain your joy by going inward and connecting in that way. But it is also greatly eased and celebrated by being part of community. You can do this in so many ways. You can join various groups or faith communities, or you can simply partake of activities, events and other gatherings where you are in the presence of people who are interested in expanding and sharing the light.
If you experience yourself coming out of the dark ages, see if you can share with people who are on a similar journey. You will find that together, your light shines more brightly!
