Most people believe that the work they do ultimately has some reward or value. So, what does that say about how much you value yourself if you are not doing things for yourself? If you do include yourself in your work, congratulations! Not only are you moving in a positive direction, but you are also reinforcing the fact that you are important. This puts you in a positive energy cycle. You go from taking care of yourself, to receiving the rewards of this, to finding it easier to care for yourself, etc. Let's use the example of going to the gym. For many, this is work. It is even called a "work-out." As you do this, you start to notice the results in your body, feeling stronger, looking great and having more energy. This reinforces your desire to work out some more to feel better and better.
If you have been complacent about self-care (physical, emotional, mental or spiritual), but you know that there is something that you want in your life, start with making the decision. Better yet, make a commitment to yourself to do what is needed for yourself. When you take the bull by the horns and say "That's it! I am doing this for myself", you will notice how your energy becomes focused. This becomes a clear signal to the Universe that will respond with synchronicities and opportunities that affirm your commitment. It may initially seem like an effort to take the bull by the horns, but when you do, you will see how quickly things fall into place.
